Setting the operating mode – Typically, the user chooses the ALL-M mode (all metals). In this mode, the metal detector will detect all types of metal.
Selecting sensitivity – Users usually expect the sensitivity to be set to maximum. However, at high sensitivity the metal detector becomes more susceptible to electromagnetic interference from nearby power lines or cables and may not respond adequately to mineralized or conductive soil. If the metal detector produces unstable false signals when the search coil is moved through the area, the sensitivity should be reduced.
If you use metal detectors together with a partner at the same time, be aware that you must keep a distance of more than 10 meters between you, and you should also reduce the sensitivity accordingly.
Use the audio signal to help distinguish between targets. While searching, you do not need to constantly look at the display. The audio identification system emits three different tones to help you identify targets.
Low tone – iron, nickel coins, and similar items.
Medium tone – pull tabs, soda bottle caps, and zinc coins.
High tone – copper, aluminium, and silver, such as coins.
Depth indicator – The depth indication is accurate for coin-sized objects. Larger or irregularly shaped objects will provide less reliable depth readings. If the depth remains constant when the metal detector is moved over the same spot several times, this indicates a more accurate detection. If the depth reading fluctuates, try adjusting the coil angle. There may be multiple targets present.
